Armenia has always been the birthplace of wine and grapes. Several years ago, in a cave near the village of Areni, a group of archaeologists discovered the oldest winery, which, according to experts, is about 6,000 years old.

The unique climatic conditions of Armenia contributed to the active development of winemaking. The Ararat plain and mountain valleys are distinguished by a large number of sunny days, and the endemic varieties of Armenian grapes (over 400 rare varieties of grapes grow on the territory of Armenia) are characterized by the high sugar content.

At the same time, hot summers, significant changes in day and night temperatures, rather cold winters and the peculiarities of Armenian soils make the properties of Armenian wines unique.

It so happened historically, that the Armenian brandies and Georgian wines were well known on the territory of the former Soviet Union. However, in recent years, history has begun to change.

More and more businessmen from Armenia began to think about the good potential for the development of winemaking in the country, where more and more money began to be invested in the development of vineyards and technology, as well as the revival of old traditions. The ancient Armenian winemaking technology used clay wine pots instead of modern wooden barrels. Today, many winemakers strive to revive these traditions.

And of course, the result was not long in coming. In a decade, Armenian wine producers have managed to bring winemaking in the country to the European level, setting up the production of wines that can compete in quality with many well-known European and Georgian brands.

The best oenologists from France, Italy and Argentina work in Armenia - they create original drinks from local and European grape varieties. Armenian wines are already known and highly appreciated in many countries around the world.
