“ARARAT” - The Legendary Armenian Brandy
While Armenia has a number of excellent award winning wines, it’s the Armenian brandy that has a solid international reputation. Even Winston Churchill himself was turned into Armenian brandy after Stalin introduced it to him at the Yalta Conference in 1945, after which the former British Prime Minister continued to have cases shipped to him until he died. Reportedly, 400 bottles of “Dvin” were shipped to Churchill annually. This brandy was named in honor of the ancient Armenian capital Dvin, and was first produced in 1943.
The “Ararat” brandy is the undisputed leader in the premium brandies category since 1887. The production is made exclusively from local grape varieties to maintain the special properties that blend harmoniously with the Caucasian oak barrels, used for aging of the authentic Armenian brandy.
The method of double distillation preserves the rare flavors and aromas of the raw material, the grapes, transferring them to the final product with refined and delicate taste.
“Ararat” brandy has the beautiful amber color with a touch of gold and a slight hint of mahogany. It has a spicy flavor with fruit and flower overtones, with hints of fresh butter and oak. A soft, pleasantly sweet taste is complemented by a long finish with notes of mocha.
