Armenian Mulberry Vodka (Tuti Aragh)
Tuti Aragh (Mulberry vodka) is a strong alcoholic drink produced in Armenia, mostly in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) and Syunik Province.
This traditional Armenian drink has the delicate and unique aroma of the mulberries & herbs, and a pleasant tender taste. It is on a level with such premium drinks as Tequila, Rum, Calvados and Brandy. In spite of its strength (can go up to 75% proof), it is easy to drink, because one cannot smell any spirit at all. The elite varieties of the Armenian mulberry vodka are brought to the required condition for in about 5 years.
Consumption of this drink in small quantities is believed to affect favorably the heart state and metabolism. Armenians believe that thanks to this drink, the lifespan is extended. Legend has it that since the ancient times, the usual breakfast of residents of the Artsakh and Syunik consisted of a boiled egg and 50 grams of Armenian mulberry vodka. After such a morning snack, people could work until lunch without a drop of fatigue.
